Tears and Fear . . . But Surprisingly Secure + Beta Readers Wanted

Tears:

On the day 30 Seconds was released, I had to put down my beloved cat Rosie. She was nineteen years old and had been in my life since I was a kid. I picked her out of the litter of seven and knew she was destined to be my baby girl. I named her Rosie because I thought her black fur was as soft as rose petals. When I was twelve, I even made her into a character in my book. She was Aunt Rosie with long black hair and vibrant green eyes. She drooled when you’d pet her, love to chewed on plastic wrappers, and would steal Doritos from you. I miss her!

Fear:

Back in May, I mentioned I had a big day in June that could change my life for the better if it went my way. Well that day has come and gone and I am still jumping through hoops. I have another big day, hopefully the last, on the 9th of this month, and I am praying it goes smoothly.

Secure:

I did everything I could to make 30 Seconds as good and exciting as I could for my readers. I know there will probably be some people who will nit-pick at this or that, but I have no control over that. I do have control over what I do and how I stay sane. I’m not looking at the Amazon ranking, or the reviews that come in. I am ignoring it all while promoting the heck out of it and working on my three work-in-progresses. That is all I can do. But if you do read 30 Seconds, I still would very much appreciate a review

BETA READERS WANTED:

(I think I have enough takers now. Thank you so much to everyone who offered their services!)

Do you like witches, magic, death and detectives? Then I'd love for you to beta read "Witch of Death", my short story of 32 pages.

Do you like ghosts, crime scenes and murder? Then I'd love for you to beta read "Ghost of Death", my other short story of 30 pages.

If you're interested in beta reading both, they have different styles. "Witch of Death" is in third person, and "Ghost of death" is in first person.

Reading:

I read Butterman (Time) Travel, Inc by PK Hrezo and her newly released, Induction Day. I love, love, love these books! I am such a big fan that I read the prequel: Diary of a Teenage Time Traveler, which is free! In these books we go to Woodstock, Titanic, and the future. They are so much fun and exciting. I highly recommend them!

I also read Moonless by Crystal Collier. I couldn’t read this book fast enough! The romance is breath-taking. The suspense is nail-biting. The mystery is intoxicating. And book two, Soulless, is available for pre-order now!

So sorry about Rosie. It's awesome that you had so many years with her, though. Pets are amazing additives to our lives, bringing us unconditional joy and love. ((Hugs))

I'm so sorry about Rosie. She looks a lot like my Rocko. I hate having to make that final trip to the vet.

Chrys Fey said...

Thank you, SA! I was blessed to have her so long. She was the last of her litter.

Chrys Fey said...

Thank you, L. Diane! That trip to the vet was the hardest.

Sorry to hear about your loss=( We had to put down one of our cats a couple of years ago. He lived until 21 years old! Had such a warm soul.
Rosie looks like my Luna! I have to get up my next blog post where I will be sharing pictures of her=)
September was rough for me. I feel like there is never enough time and I'm so behind. October, I'm hoping, will be better!
I still have to read How I Found the Write Path and get some reviews up. It was awesome to be part of such an amazing project.

I'm so sorry to hear about Rosie. It's never easy to lose a furbaby.

Nicki Elson said...

Hooray for old school! Love those pics.

Rest in peace, sweet Rosie. Good luck with that fear next week. You've done everything you can quite well & good on you for keeping up with not one, not two, but thahree works in progress!

Sarah Foster said...

So sorry about Rosie. I really need to read more books. I always make it a goal to read 100 books in a year. I've made it to 11 so far. Yeah, it's pretty pathetic.

Christine Rains said...

My sympathies about Rosie. She was beautiful. My tears and fears in September centered around me breaking my wrist. Thankfully I didn't need surgery, but I'm behind where I want to be with my writing. October and November will be catch-up time!

Mina Burrows said...

Oh, I'm sorry to hear about Rosie! Jeez that's hard. She was beautiful. RIP, Rosie.

Chrys Fey said...

Your Luna is adorable! I already miss have kittens. My four are big grown cats now! lol I can't wait for that blog post. :)

It seems September was a rough month for both of us. Since we both love October so much, I hope it's better all around!

Chrys Fey said...

No, it never is.

Chrys Fey said...

I like to do things old school. :D

Thank you, Nicki!

Chrys Fey said...

Thanks, Sarah! My goal for reading was 50 and I managed to pass it, but not all the books I read were novels. Sometimes we go through ruts, even with reading.

Chrys Fey said...

Thank you, Christine! Ouch! I'm sorry about your wrist. That would've been my fears and tears, too! I'm glad you didn't need surgery. I hope you can catch up with your writing! :)

Chrys Fey said...

Thank you for your sweet comment, Mina!

Carrie-Anne said...

I'm sorry to hear about your dear sweet Rosie. I hope she's happily playing at the Rainbow Bridge now.

My insecurity in September was finding my way back to editing, revising, rewriting, and polishing my first Russian historical. I was happily surprised when I no longer felt sick of looking at it, after enough time away, and that I found a lot of stuff to take out and fix. My confidence in myself as able to edit my own work honestly has been restored.

EEGiorgi said...

so sorry about your cat :-( ((((hugs))))

Crystal Collier said...

Some sad balanced by so much excitement. Chrys, you rock. =) Thanks so much for the mention...and I found it kind of funny you read PK's books and Moonless in the same time frame...since we both released our first book on the same day. =) Ah, good memories.

I've got my fingers crossed for you on the 9th!

Sorry about your kitty. That just sucks.

And congratulations to Kimberly.
Thanks for sending your piece for the book!

The vet officer gave me a poem about the Rainbow Bridge. It was very sweet.

See? Stepping back is always a good idea to give our brains a rest. I'm glad you were able to get back into editing your story, and that you have your confidence back. :D

Chrys Fey said...

Thanks, EE!

Chrys Fey said...

Chrys, so sorry to hear about your cat! And I hope your big day on the 9th goes well. Fingers crossed for your. Right now I'm feeling insecure about being able to juggle my family life with my writing. Time management has been so tough for me but I won't give up! (I'm too stubborn, lol.)Wishing you the best of luck with your upcoming releases:)

Chrys Fey said...

Thank you, Al! And it's okay. I understand having to do so much and there not being enough hours in the day. I appreciate your comment, though. :)

Chrys Fey said...

Thank you, Annalisa! And thank you so much for emailing me. :D

Chrys Fey said...

Thank you, Quanie! Juggling family and writing is tough. Especially when you have a baby or little ones running around. I'm stubborn, too. ;) I hope you can find a way to include writing into your family life.

September was a very bad month for me. Now I need to show my resilency, but I'm insecure about both myself as an author and career woman. Well, it can only get better, right.

I read Wind Through the Keyhole by Stephen King. I enjoyed the story, and the ability not to think about a review or anything except the story. I need to get back into reading my blogger friend's books and writing reviews though.

So sorry about your cat. They are such precious companions. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on the 9th.

Chrys Fey said...

I'm sorry September was a bad month for you, too. I hope October is a better month for both of us!

I've gotten used to writing reviews. While I'm reading, if something good (or bad) hits me, I write it down and use those notes for the review.

Thank you, Dolorah!

emaginette said...

No. I've been feeling pretty good. I always feel good when I'm writing, but I must submit before Oct 31st. Then I'll be looking for support. I hate the waiting game. :-/

Sorry to hear about Rosie, but she had a really long life. Doesn't make the loss any easier though.

Yeah just ignore the crap and carry on, there will always be nitpickers.

Diane Burton said...

Wow, Chrys, you had quite a month in Sept. So sorry about your cat. That is so sad. Sept wasn't that great for me and I struggled with the edits for my latest book. I'm sure the advice was given with good will. Doesn't make it any easier to swallow. I hope October is much better for you.

Shell Flower said...

Awww. I love cats! So sorry that your Rosie had to go, but she had good company. My twin sister's 15 year-old calico passed in September, too. Sounds like you are on to a new phase in your life, shedding old skin and moving into the future. Good luck with the novel. I'll definitely check it out!

Stephanie Faris said...

Your big day will go well, I'm sure of it! So sorry to hear about your kitty cat. Losing a pet is so difficult.

Susan Gourley/Kelley said...

My biggest September fear was personal for my daughter as she studies overseas. It's very stressful with the world the way it is today. You really had lots of good news but I sympathize the loss of your cat. We also went through that in the spring with our eighteen year old lady.

Kristin Smith said...

Sorry to hear about Rosie. :( Hoping and praying that everything works out well for you on the 9th.

And congrats to Kimberly Afe for being the winner!

Sorry to hear about your cat. Yeah. I had a tear moment. I gave myself five minutes to feel sorry for myself and moved on. It's great to have a husband who gives you hugs too. I read The Eternal Prison by Jeff Somers. I do love Avery Cates. =) I hope everything goes well for you.
