Spotify Playlists for Writers (and Readers...ANYONE!) + GIVEAWAY

UPDATE: On Valentine’s Day my mom rang the chemo bell. At the end of February she was hospitalized for two nights due to complications. The beginning of March she completed radiation. Then she had a CT scan done that showed the tumor in her lung has shrunk from 5.5cm to 2.2cm. She has started once-a-month immunotherapy treatments to continue to kill cancer cells and maintain the positive outcome of her previous treatments. ❤️ Thank you for all of your prayers and kind thoughts. Its not over yet, but this is great news. Continued prayers appreciated. ❤️

📣 ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

I am a judge for the Florida Writers Association’s annual Royal Palm Literary Awards, and I couldn’t be happier! When I looked into the contest, I was pleased to see their diversity statement, the fact that they implement diversity training for all judges, have an LGBTQ+ category for fiction and non-fiction, and have separate categories for young writers so they can enter and see their dreams realized, too. This is a competition I can support and am honored to be a judge for.

I have judged three entries already, which is the amount we must judge before announcing we’re a judge. I can’t say which genres/categories I’m judging, but I will say that it’s several. I am looking forward to reading more entrants and seeing the winners announced later this year.

While I was participating in NaNoWriMo last year, I was also creating a bunch of playlists for writers. I updated the Playlist page on my website.

On Spotify, you can see the full playlist and also follow it by clicking the heart icon. The widgets below only go up to 100 songs, and some of the playlists are longer than that.

Click the links below to go directly to each playlist. Then click the ❤️ to add that playlist to your library.

You can also go to my Spotify profile to follow me.

Oh, how fun! I'm not the only one that has playlists all over the place for stories! Mine are all on YouTube.
Praying for your mom <3

Good news about your mom!

I absolutely love to create playlists! I do have playlists for specific stories, too. 😃

It is great news. Thanks.

And thank you for your prayers!

How long does it take you to compile a playlist? I find that I need silence to write (or just the sound of the fountains outside). Music is too distracting.

Great news about your mom.

Interesting question. It took me 3-4 days to create the romance, heartbreak, and erotica playlists, which I did at the same time. Other playlists took me a couple of days, but I add to them whenever I come across an appropriate song, so they’re always evolving.

Thank you, Liz.

I make playlists but my tastes in music are much heavier than yours.

Chrys Fey said...

These playlists don’t necessarily reveal all my tastes in music. I’m like a wide range of music. Heavier how, exactly? Do you mean rock and heavy metal? If so, I love rock and even heavy metal and have an Action playlist and Fight playlist here that demonstrate that on a small scale.

AWESOME news about your mom!! <3 <3 <3

I love making playlists for stories I'm working on or for moods, and I LOVE seeing other people's playlists. It's one of my favorite ways to discover new music. I use music both when writing and to get inspired, but when I'm writing, I don't listen to songs with lyrics. That's too distracting for me.

So glad to hear your mom is doing better. I hope her current treatment helps shrink the cancer more. That's awesome that you are a judge and are enjoying the process.

Thank you!

Making playlists is one of my hobbies. It makes me so happy.

Thank you, Natalie!

I am enjoying the process of being a judge for RPLA. I like the rubrics I fill out for each entry that can help the author. Every time, I get great comments from the higher-ups about the rubrics I create when they read and approve them. :)

Continued prayers for your mom. I'm glad to hear she is responding to the treatment and that the tumor is shrinking. I use Spotify and Apple Music, which I download songs into my phone. I don't have playlist for activities, but have 100s of songs to listen to. As I write this, I'm listing to your top ten favorites!

Sounds like good news for your mom! I hope things continue to go as well as possible.

I only use Spotify for my podcasts. Music is on Pandora still or I use my iTunes.

I will definitely pray for your mom. I'm not on Spotify because I use Apple Music instead. But I like your playlists, especially the romance ones. Some of the songs made me nostalgic for the 90s and brought back good memories of high school.

I haven't use spotify in ages, but I do listen to music when I write. It's such a helpful creative tool.
