Help! Again / IWSG Book Club News / Cover Reveal + Pre-Order Sale

HELP:

Yes, I know...I'm asking for participants yet again. This blog tour is for the conclusion to the Disaster Crimes series, A Fighting Chance (Book 6). Each post will also announce a short story (Disaster Crimes 7, an eBook that'll be free for a limited time), and I'll be launching a website inspired by this series. So, I could use all the blogs I can get to help spread the word on all this stuff. :D

There will be a giveaway you can enter that's a part of the tour. I will also do a giveaway among my blog tour sign-ups. INCENTIVE! (Bribery hahaha)

Blog Tour Dates - January 11 - 29, 2021

IWSG BOOK CLUB ON GOODREADS:

Our book club is changing things up!

We will have quarterly book selections now, giving us more time to read. We will also have one fiction book selection and one writing craft book selection. Members can read both or choose between them. Finally, we won’t be offering 5 optional discussion questions anymore. Instead, we will be utilizing the polls that our members enjoy, so there will be one poll question for the fiction book and one for the non-fiction book on Discussion Day.

Our December/January/February reads are…

Ghost Light by Joseph O'Connor, a book written in second person. Since many readers haven’t read a book in second person, and many writers haven’t written in second person, we figured this is a great chance to explore something new.

Preparing to Write Settings that Feel Like Characters by J Lenni Dorner.
This will be our writing craft book, with a focus on settings.

Discussion Day for both books will be February 24, 2021!

ART LOVE:

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you may have seen me talk about what I call "my Secret Book Baby Series." I recently asked an artist (and author) whose work I admire, Loni Townsend (@art_by_loni on IG), if she'd like to create a digital art portrait of my main character. She did an amazing job! Check it out:

Avrianna Heavenborn is featured as a detective in the short story Ghost of Death, available as an eBook for just $0.99. You’ll get a taste of some of her powers and may be intrigued by how mysterious she is.

COVER REVEAL + PRE-ORDER SALE

*A FIGHTING CHANCE is Book 6 in the Disaster Crimes series, but it’s a spin-off featuring a new couple, so it can be read as a standalone.*

Thorn has loved Amanda from afar, giving her whatever she needs as a survivor of abuse—space, protection, and stability. He yearns to give her more, though, to share his feelings, kiss her, love her, but he's worried the truth will frighten her away.

And Amanda is afraid. She’s scared of her attraction for Thorn. Most of all, she’s terrified of her ex-boyfriend, who is lurking nearby where no one can find him. When she grows closer to Thorn, Damon retaliates, jeopardizing their happy ending.

Up against an abusive ex and Mother Nature, do Thorn and Amanda have a fighting chance?

QUESTION: What is something you did this year that you are proud you did?

  1. Hi,
I'm looking forward to your tour in January 2021.
One of the things that I am very happy that I am doing is to be hybrid author. My first short story will come out in February 2021.

  2. The series looks awesome, Chrys! One of the things I'm proud of this year is releasing the final book in my "By Moonlight" shapeshifter series. I'd spent 10-years (!) in that world and though it was difficult to walk away, I'm loving my new romantic suspense.

Way to go on releasing the last book in your series. Ten years is a wonderfully long time.

  6. I honestly can't think of anything I'm proud of from this year, since lockdown is ruining my mental health and has taken away my normal daily wordcounts of at least 2K. I'm not at all proud of my terrible production level from March onwards. This is so beyond unrepresentative of what I'm capable of.

I'd be more than happy to be a part of your blog tour, but I've been posting so infrequently, I'm not sure how many people would see it these days. It might not be worth your time if there are better blogs out there. Have a happy holiday.

  23. Hi Chrys,
What am I proud of? Well, giving up my home of 14 years and leasing a condo. We (m husband and I) are living in Mexico, near Puerto Vallarta. I'm learning it takes courage to adjust especially when I don't speak very much Spanish.
