It's Okay to be Nerdy!

This is a blog hop hosted by Cassie Mae for her book How to Date a Nerd. Congratulations on your release, Cassie!

Check out her book!

Now Available on: GoodReads / Amazon

When I signed up to do this blog hop I thought it would be a no-brainer. I mean I've been considered nerdy since I was a kid because I liked to read and write. But when I had to decide what the nerdiest thing about me is my mind went blank. So what did I do? I called my oldest sister, of course! And she said, "This. You calling me up to ask me this is the nerdiest thing about you!" I couldn't help but laugh.

We got to talking and during our conversation, which turned in many directions, we discovered the nerdiest thing about me is that I'm a big fan of the wrestler Jeff Hardy from Total Nonstop Action (TNA)..

I'm such a big fan that I . . .

Once dressed up like him for Halloween. Yes, that is me. I know. Hard to imagine.

Got two DVD collections of his matches from my brother. (One for Christmas and one for my birthday.)

Got a Jeff Hardy t-shirt as a nice, random gift from my brother's then girlfriend (now fiance).

And I even decorated a Christmas cookie to look like him.

Although I've been out of this phase for a while now, I have to add something that I forgot about until I read another participant's post . I am also in the middle of writing a romantic-suspense story inspired by Jeff Hardy. Yes, it's true. I started it a couple of years ago and I am now working on finishing it. The hero is a wrestler, and he holds quite a resemblance to Jeff Hardy.

So it's safe to say that my love for Jeff Hardy is the nerdiest thing about me.

It's okay to be nerdy though! EMBRACE IT!

QUESTION: What is the nerdiest thing abut you?

It doesn't even have to be nerdy. Share something that no one knows. Don't be shy! :)

    1. I knew it! LOL! At least I ate the cookie though. If I had kept it that would've made me not only a nerd but a weirdo. :P

    1. As a writer who can make mistakes with grammar, yes, yes, that would make you a nerd. :P

  3. Very cool cookie. My mind went blank too when I tried to come up with something. But luckily I figured it out without having to call family or friends. They probably would've given me a big list. :)

    1. Thank you! I think my sister felt privileged that I asked her. After all, how many times does an older sibling get asked by the baby of the family to honestly tell them what makes them nerdy? Not often! lol

  4. Ha! I love it! I would have never guessed you were such a Jeff Hardy fan and I actually think it's cool!

    1. I came out of the closest as a Jeff Hardy fan when I dressed up as him several years ago, and I surprised all of my friends and family. lol I love that what I think makes me nerdy you think is cool. :D

  5. I'm a visual art / drawing (?) nerd. I'd rather draw all day than go out. Or just erase the last phrase... so it'll just be "I'd rather draw all day." ;-)

One should buy that book for my future husband lol

    1. It's available now. You could buy it and set it aside for him. ;)

And just like you, I'd rather write all day. :)

    1. Now that would've made me stalker crazy. And it was just one cookie, which I savored . . . I ate his head first. haha

  8. Oh dear... =P

The Hardy Boyz came into wrestling just as I stopped watching so I don't know much about this guy, but I used to love Razor Ramon and 1,2,3 Kid. I guess that's kind of nerdy?

    =D

  10. I love this, Chrys! Although I haven't read Mae's new book, it seems like it will be quite entertaining. Sometimes, nerds are sexier than super hot men because they can be full of surprises=) Not to mention, super smart!

That's so funny how you are obsessed with Jeff Hardy. And now I'm interested in learning more about this book you have been working on which is inspired by him. And the Christmas cookie is to die for! Still smiling at this.

Like you, I was ALWAYS considered a nerd because I loved to read, write and get my homework done ahead of time. I was also constantly studying to keep my grades as high as they possibly could go. If there was an A+++, my name would have been all over it.

BUT, honestly, I think the nerdiest thing about me is that I love listening to soundscapes and spa music. I'm OBSESSED with it. I listen to it when I write, when I'm walking with my iPod, and while I fall asleep. I love artists like Enigma, 2002, David Darling, Enya, Michael Hoppe, Hans Zimmer, Tori Amos, etc. I even love to listen to Native American music. It's so soothing to my soul. My boyfriend says I'm such a geek because of my musical inclinations.

Don't get me wrong; I absolutely adore alternative, rock, 80s, country, trance, and all of that other good stuff, however, my appreciation for the "enlightening music" tends to surpass anything else these days.

    1. I was waiting for you to read this, Gina! lol

Oh yes, nerds can be sexy. *high five*

My Jeff-Hardy-inspired book is the project I am submerging myself in now because I want to send it to my editor in the future. It's such an interesting concept, the characters are so different, and I am excited to share it! :D

You and I would've gotten along real well as kids! I loved to do extra credit, science fair projects, writing assignments, and book reports.

Oh I love soundscapes! I was just listening to it on the Music Choice channel a couple of hours ago. It seems the more we get to know each other the more we have in common! I also love Enya and Native American Music, my mom got me into both years when I was young. :)

  14. ZOMG you are such a nerd and i say that with much much love. HOW AWESOME IS THAT HALLOWEEN COSTUME? I am suspicious of anyone who doesn't have some nerd it them. They might be pod people. Just like people who say they don't really like any kind of music. Obvs they are aliens. ;)

  16. Hi Chrys and Cassie! What a great blog post. Love all the pictures. You totally rock, Cassie. Good luck with the book. It looks so fun and I love the cover.

I'm pretty nerdy as I spent a lot of my life as a technical writer. I used to love creating indexes. My husband would watch me doing it and say he would rather stick needles in his eyes.

Chrys, I'm adding your blog to my Wordpress Reader. Thanks for coming by my FB page and linking with me through Goodreads.
