  2. It depends on the prequel. I have to be invested in the book to enjoy one.

  3. When I was writing my series, I preferred the male POV, too. They are simpler, thus easier to write.

    1. I even find that when I write my romances. One chapter is for the female POV and the next is for the male POV. The chapters for the guys are always easier to write.

  4. Then they aren't meant to be, and that's okay. :)

  5. I'm not sure I have. although I know that there is a prequel just out for "Practical Magic". I have never written a prequel. I love the idea, Chrys! Especially for 30 Seconds.

  6. So interesting to learn that you had no intention of writing a prequel. It sounds like it worked out and it sounds like there's a lot of action and great stuff packed in it. I enjoyed watching your video!

  7. I like your home office in the video, especially the chair. One thing that's been interesting about lockdown is getting glimpses of people's living space/home office in the online videos/Zoom calls. I've never written a prequel, but I think it's interesting to see where the characters are coming from.

    1. This is an older video, so the background is different now. I actually moved my desk out in to the main living area of my house. lol

  8. I've written a short story prequel that helped me work through some plot issues (I kept referring to a past incident between two characters, but had no idea what the incident actually WAS.) If the book gets published, I'll probably use the short story as a freebie.

  9. I didn't know your book had a mob element! My favorite book is Gold Coast by Nelson DeMille and he wrote a prequel to that that I really loved. Great except from your book. Lots of action!

  10. I don't remember reading any prequel except for Tolkien. I think as a reader I am one who is fine with a bit of suspense as to what something is the way it is, but as a writer, I think the prequel could be easier than the actual story. Thanks for sharing your insights.

  11. I think it's a great idea. I've done it and it led to a whole new novel. The Snowman (preguel) and the novel Murder, Just Because.
