J is for Judgment Day

My theme for my 2015 A to Z Challenge came from my Disaster Crimes series. Disasters are a theme in each story, so it got me thinking about all the disasters that occur from natural disasters to manmade disasters.

Today’s disaster is...
JUDGMENT DAY

Are there any Terminator fans out there? Because today’s disaster is JUDGMENT DAY, a fictional nuclear strike featured in the Terminator series. Skynet, an artificial intelligence, initiates a nuclear war on Judgment Day and creates machines to wipeout humanity.

Sarah Connor, the mother of John Connor, the one who will lead humans in the fight against the machines, is one of my all-time favorite female characters. She is badass, and when I was a kid, I wanted to be her –especially with that shotgun! Sarah Connor was played by Linda Hamilton.

FACT: Hamilton's twin sister, Leslie Hamilton Gearren, also portrayed Sarah Connor when it was required that there be two of the character in the same shot.

At the end of the second movie, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Sarah and John believe they stopped Skynet, but as we know...Judgment Day could never be stopped.

A popular saying from the movies: “The future is not set. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves."

QUESTIONS: Are you a fan of the Terminator movies? Who is your favorite badass female character?

P.S. Tomorrow (April 12th) is my birthday!! :D

  8. Chrys you had me at Judgement. I love the Terminator movie although I think the first two were the best. I thought the adult John Connor in the 3rd movie was a little too wimpy. But Claire Danes wasn't too bad as John Connor's future wife. And have you seen the trailer for the latest Terminator 5 Genesis movie installment? Hope you have a great birthday!

  15. First, Happy Birthday tomorrow!!! I really liked the first Terminator movie. Liked the second one as well, but after that they kind of died for me. I've been wanting to watch the first one again for almost a year now and am sad they don't offer it on Netflix. But I haven't tried Amazon streaming yet, so maybe they have it. Great post, especially that tidbit of trivia I didn't know about Linda Hamilton's twin sister! How did I miss that? I really liked LH in Beauty and the Beast also... Happy Birthday to you tomorrow! Yay that you have a break, too! <3

My favorite female character.... I like strong female characters. NOT like Scarlette O'Hara (She is a brat, sorry), I don't like overbearing female characters who are sassy and disrespectful to men (oooh, that just gets me mad). In my opinion, what makes a strong female character is one who shows humility and compassion, yet powerful and virtuous! The one who comes to mind is Triss from Divergent. :)

It looks like the sequel is even more of Sarah being a bad ass, but the trailer makes it look like he started training her as a young teen. Not quite as cool for me.
