I love to create mashups of my best posts for the year. It’s neat to see which ones received a bigger response, because you can never tell these things when you’re writing them. I also like to share these best posts again for anyone who might’ve missed them the first time around.
So here are the TOP TEN posts from Write with Fey this year:
These two posts were the
most challenging to write, but I’m glad I did it because the topics are so
important, and when you’re writing about characters with a disease, disability,
or disorder it’s essential to get it right.
I was happy that this post
received a lot of comments and that many said they wanted to write a car
accident scene because of it. :)
I couldn’t wait to share
this post, because heroine’s of steel are my favorite heroines to write about. There
are 25 things in this post to help writers create such a heroine.
Here is a post I was
surprised to receive such great feedback for.
5. The Mob
This post is the most
different post I’ve ever done for a specific type of character, because I had to cover
things like crime, guns, and victims.
6. Vampires
I never thought I would
share a post about vampires, but ten years ago I never thought I’d write about
vampire characters. Plus, mortals can’t get enough of vampires.
In this post I provide a
list of ways writers can use a character’s past life in their story. And I was
thrilled that everyone answered my question about whether or not they believed
in reincarnation.
This is another post that
received wonderful replies. I believe that you have to let bad things happen to
your character to make your story real.
I enjoyed writing this post
almost as much as I enjoyed writing actual wedding scenes.
In this post, I discuss the
characteristics that make the Sunshine State unique for anyone who might want
to write a story set in Florida.
BONUS ROUND:
My 5 Favorite A to Z Posts:
3. Inheriting the Writing Gene (A post about my mom and her influence on me.)
I hope you enjoyed this list!

2015 UPDATE:
From now on my blog will not just
focus on writers and authors but also bloggers and readers. Check out the details:
Writers: I will still share writing tips but these posts will be on Mondays now.
Readers: On the occasional Wednesday I will share fun
posts and insight into my stories. I will also be interviewing avid readers about
their passion for books. Since January is full, look for the first Reader Interview in February.
Bloggers: Along with Reader Interviews, I am also bringing
Blogger Interviews. The first one will be on January 7th. You won’t
want to miss it. Trust me!
Authors: And of course I'll still be hosting authors. :)
Happy New Year!!! I hope to see you in 2015!

January 7 - oh, the pressure!
It is interesting to look back and see which posts generated the most attention. Every month, I check the stats for the IWSG's posts. So far, my post on where to find places to advertise cheap or free eBooks is the most popular. (Which really stuns me.)
I like the new schedule! Looking forward to reading the interviews. I'm hoping to get more organized with my blog posts in 2015.
I remember just about all of those indeed here at your feed, nice adding bloggers to in the new year
I'm fairly certain I do everything wrong, so I love your blog - I need schooled, girl! I love this post.
Happy New Year!
January 7th!!!! :D
That doesn't surprise me at all, Alex. Many authors use Amazon's free days, or offer their books for free. I know when I did this, I was hunting everywhere for lists of good websites to promote my free book at.
Thanks! I sure hope my new schedule works out. And I'm excited about the interviews. I hope everyone likes them. :D
You have a good memory, Pat! ;)
I'm glad you love this post, Cherdo! Happy New Year!!!
For whatever reason, my anti-Arbonne post from December 2013 went viral this year, and now has over 5,300 views. This is the only post I've had to disable reviews on, because I didn't want to put up with the bullying, abusive, personal, attacking rants from two immature Arbots who just kept ranting and ranting against me for daring to have a negative view and experience of their precious MLM cult.
So far, I plan to keep to my blogging schedule of Mondays, Wednesdays, Sundays, and some Fridays. Apart from my Weekend Writing Warrior posts, the January posts I've got scheduled so far include lessons learnt from an old unfinished play, lessons learnt from Version 1.0 of a first draft, how to salvage old ideas and manuscripts, and how to write a hemophiliac character.
Oh my! I think I would've disabled comments on that too!
Blogging 4 times a week? I don't think I could do that. I'm already wondering how I'll managed three times a week on top of writing. Those sound like interesting posts, Carrie-Anne! :)
Oh what a fun project--I am totally not that organized. And I get odd hits for bizarre things, maybe because I meander topics rather than sticking just with writing. Nice to see what people have liked though. My biggest punches tend to be when I help host something somebody more organized has planned. Erm...
Goodness, what a line up! Lots of good reading here.
Well I have read all of those posts you mention from 2014. As always, I enjoy your blog and tips so very much Chrys! I look forward to 2015 here at Write With Fey.
p.s. I really enjoyed 30 seconds! I reviewed it on GR and on Amazon. Nicely done, Chrys. It was action packed and a real page turner!
HI, Chrys,
HAPPY 2015! ALL the best for the new year!
Great line up and looking forward to your posts!
I must apologize, I haven't read any of those yet :P But I'm looking forward to your new & improved plans for 2015.
Having a blog with a bunch of odd topics is fun though! That's why I'll be doing random posts on Wednesdays so I can have that kind of fun too. :)
Thanks, Barbara!
You've been busy and shared tons of great info! All the best for 2015! Write on!
Thanks, Lisa! You're my most frequent reader on my blog and I appreciate you and your comments very much!
Yes, I saw your review! Thank you so much! :D
Thanks, Michael! Happy New Year!!!!
That's okay, Michael! You're a little newer in the blogosphere so I forgive you. ;) I know I've missed some of your posts too. I'm looking forward to reading more from you in 2015.
Thanks, Patricia! Happy New Year!!! :)
Happy New Year's Eve!
It often surprises me to see which posts are the most popular. As you say, we can't usually tell when we're writing them.
Happy New Year!
Even though I am new to the blogging world (October 2014), it has fascinated me as to which of my posts gain most interest. I will continue to track this in the hope I can gain more readers and contributors. Thank you, Fey for such a wonderful, useful and enjoyable blog. All the very best for the new year.
As always, well organized and the New Year all ready planned! I do envy you your dedication and skill. I look forward to reading your blog in 2015!
Wishing you the most prosperous, peace and love filled New Year!
Some great posts, Chrys. You'll have content for a how to writing book. Looking forward to the new year and reading your blog.
Happy New Year!!
It surprises me too. :)
Happy New Year, Patsy!
It's a lot of fun to pay attention to which posts get more comments/views.
Thank you so much, Nicola! I wish you the best for 2015!
I'm a little OCD when it comes to blogging. ;)
Thank you, Yolanda! I hope your have much happiness in 2015!
Thanks, Brenda! I'm looking forward to what the new year will bring with your blog, too!

What a fun look back, Chrys! Some good posts I'll want to revisit. Good luck with the new format. Happy new year!
I think I do. :)
Happy New Year, Sherry!
I'm glad you liked this post, Ava! Thank you and happy new year to you! :)
Happy New Year to you and your family, Chrys!
Lots to check out here... I read your Florida post as one of my favorite fiction author, Carl Haaisen, is from Florida. You forgot the swamps :)
Wow! You've certainly planned an interesting year for followers - can't wait! :-)
Thanks, Michelle! Happy New Year to you and yours!
Oh, I did forget to mention the swamps. There's so much I could mention. :)
I'm trying to. :) Thanks, Diedre!
I've told you this before and I will say it again, you are going to be one busy gal this year! But busy in a good way, of course=)
I think you have a fantastic way of uniting readers, bloggers, writers and authors. I wish you the best of luck with all of your upcoming ventures and can only imagine how much more your fan base will grow!
oh my goodness, number ten--NUMBER TEN!! Needed this post badly, since a few of my stories have settings there. The one i'm working on now may have a scene there, and my next YA WIP is going to be set there completely. I took vacations there in winter growing up to visit grandparents, but don't know it that well. Bookmarked it! love your blogs, Chrys :) and happy new year!
I'm looking forward to it, but I just hope I don't get stressed out by it all.
Thanks, Gina! :)
Yay! I'm happy that I included that one in this post then. It was tough picking which ones were my favorite and I could only pick 10! I'm glad you can use it, Beth! Happy New Year!!!
Great mashup Chris. Good luck with redirecting your blog. I need to do similar so I will watch with interest!
I learned so much from reading your blog last year. I'm going to check out the Florida link--I don't think I've read it. My settings are in Florida, so I want to make sure I'm including everything.
Thank you, Pat! Now I'm feeling the pressure. ;)
That's lovely to hear, Medeia! I hope my Florida post gives you some ideas. :)
I love reading your posts Chrys so yes, I will be here reading on!
Learning a lot from you. Hope to read more useful info here. :)
Happy new year, btw. :)
Thanks! That makes me so happy! :)
I do my best to pass on the things I've learned. :) Happy New Year!
Very nice colors & theme. Did you develop this website yourself?
Yes, I did create this website myself. :)
