At age 50, I've read enough straight white guys to last me for the next 50, and I value the WINDOW aspect of reading more than the MIRROR. I want the chance to see lives that are different than mine. There was a student who connected with a graphic novel on Nat Turner, and he would have loved those. If they had been around back when I was teaching, I would have had them in my classroom.
